In situations where the use of public charging stations is not possible or practical, having a portable charging adapter as part of every electric vehicle’s equipment is crucial. This is especially valuable on longer journeys or in areas where charging infrastructure is sparse but there is access to a compatible power source at stopover points, like a country house.

Why opt for an 11 kW charging adapter?

It serves as a home charger – facilitating quick charging in domestic settings. While a standard charging adapter allows for charging up to 3 kW/h from a 230V outlet, which is slower than 15 km (approximately 9 miles) of driving range per hour, a three-phase 11 kW adapter enables charging of 40-50 km/h (approximately 25-31 miles/h).

For full-power charging with an 11kW adapter, a 16A current, which is quite common in households, is sufficient. If the power availability at the location is limited, the adapter’s power can be adjusted. The car will be charged regardless.

The 11kW charging adapter replaces the charger, but…

Having a wall-mounted or pole-mounted charger at home or work is definitely sensible – as portable chargers are easy to carry, they are also easy to be taken by others.
